Dale Carnegie graduate and world renowned motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar once said, “What’s worse than training your workers and losing them? Not training them and keeping them.” Last month, the Canada-Alberta Job Grant program (CAJG) announced that there are still fund available for employee training.
What are the benefits of employee training? The Canada-Alberta Job Grant program can help your organization achieve an increase in productivity, employee skills and retention. The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) studied 540 corporations by dividing them into two sub-samples. The first sample included employees for which $900 of training was invested per employee and the second invested $275 per employee per year. Researchers found the top group outpaced the bottom by:
57% higher sales per employee; and
37% higher gross profit per employee.
Sales training pays off particularly well. There is a high correlation between investing in sales training and seven key business results which include sales increase; market share increase; a tendency for more new product launches; productivity increase; higher employee morale and improved retention rates; and an increase in customer satisfaction and net profits.
What is the Alberta-Canada job grant? The Canada Job Grant is part of the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta’s commitment to ensuring that employees are trained in high-demand areas. This employer-driven training program enables employers to decide who will be trained and which training will be most beneficial for new and current employees. Employers are required to use a third-party training provider, such as Dale Carnegie Training of Edmonton and Northern Alberta, to deliver formal training either onsite, online or in a classroom.
How can my organization apply for training funds? Before applying, the good folks at Dale Carnegie Training recommend you review application tips. Access the Canada-Alberta Job Grant Application form here. Please note that your application must be submitted at least 30 days before the training course begins and courses must be approved before the actual start-date to receive funds by the CAJG.
